I often hear incorrect definitions of apostille certification. Some people understand it as a power of attorney. There are those who think of it as a company certificate and there are those who think of it as a completely separate document. But in fact none of these.<\/p>\n
An apostille is nothing more than an international superscription of a document issued or authenticated by a court, notary or other authority for use abroad. Under the 1961 Hague Convention, countries that have acceded to the Convention accept each other's documents as authentic public documents by means of apostille certification.<\/p>\n
Almost all official transactions abroad require an apostilled document: 99.9% for opening a bank account, buying property or even registering a subsidiary.<\/p>\n
It is of particular importance that when registering a new company, you may need the following documents apostille certified:<\/p>\n
Each country has a different office that does this verification. In Hungary, for example, the Hungarian National Chamber of Notaries and in Seychelles the Supreme Court of Seychelles are the offices where notaries can be recertified.<\/p>\n
There are countries that have not acceded to the 1961 Hague Convention, where they cannot issue an apostille. For example, the United Arab Emirates, where if I need a certified public document for an administrative transaction in Hungary, I have to request it from the office and take it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs there, where it is certified. However, this will not be accepted in Hungary yet, but you have to take it to the Hungarian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and ask for a re-certification there. After that, a document can be accepted as authentic in Hungary.<\/p>\n
An administrative service fee of HUF 5,000 per notary or translator signature is payable to the Hungarian Chamber of Notaries, which can be paid by advance payment, on-the-spot payment by bank card or by yellow cheque.<\/p>\n
MOKK stands for the Hungarian National Chamber of Notaries. You can apply for an Apostille for authentic documents issued in Hungary here. The office hours are quite tight, from 9-12 on weekdays, with afternoon hours on Tuesdays. It is not necessary to book an appointment in advance, the waiting time is not usually very long and the Apostille can be issued on request.
